The Boston Celtics may or may not have received a trade request from Rajon Rondo this week but that doesn’t really matter when it comes to trade rumors about him.

Rondo could have an MVP season like no other and the end result would be rumor mongers saying how high his value is for a move. It’s part of being Rondo, and that’s why these trade request rumors are easy t take with a grain of salt.
NBA scribe Chuck Myron opines that if Rondo and Marcus Smart can play well together and the Celtics turn in a winning season, then having the superstar re-sign this upcoming offseason isn’t that crazy of an idea.
"If I’m you, Danny, I hold on to him as long as I can. If the C’s play better this season with a full season of Rondo, improved play from their young guys, and the injection of Marcus Smart into the lineup, I think I have at least a chance to re-sign Rondo next summer. So I’m not trading him until the deadline, at least."
No matter what happens, trading Rondo now is a terrible idea for so many reasons. Chief among those reasons is the fact that Rondo’s trade value is perhaps at it’s lowest it has ever been at as he’s still coming off of that ACL injury and hasn’t been as explosive as he can be.
Once that Rondo returns, then we can all start talking about a trade but teams are bargain shopping right now and trying to haggle a price on Rondo that just won’t fly with the Celtics.
