The future of Ray Allen may not include much basketball in it but that’s not stopping folks from trying to convince themselves he’s coming back for another year.

More from Chicago Bulls

After numerous erroneous reports about Allen signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers, not only has he not stated if he’s retiring or not but other contending teams have entered the discussion. The Los Angeles Clippers and San Antonio Spurs have made pushes to sign Allen but another team could enter the race.

NBA scribe Chuck Myron opines that if the Chicago Bulls were to be able to get Ray Allen to agree to a minimum contract, then he’d fit better with them than any of the other interested teams.

"Doesn’t look like it, but if Allen would agree to the minimum (which is all Chicago can pay), it would make sense. The Bulls are weakest on the wing, and Allen could help there, plus I think he’s still fit enough to play the sort of defense that Thibs demands, at least for short stints. But, San Antonio’s got the full mid-level to offer, so that gives the Spurs a significant advantage."

It’s hard to say Allen will chase money over a title but thanks to his legendary status, he can do both at the same time. San Antonio is still a good bet to return to the NBA Finals and they can offer the most money. That doesn’t mean Allen will take it but that also doesn’t mean Allen has to take the minimum either.

This is all, of course, assuming Allen even comes back for another season.
