AFC West

1st Place- Denver Broncos

2nd Place- San Diego Chargers

3rd Place- Kansas City Chiefs

4th Place- Oakland Raiders

Peyton Manning is still on the Broncos, which means I will be picking the Broncos to win the division. Manning hasn’t won less than ten games since 2001 and I don’t expect the streak to stop this year. In a mediocre division, Denver should cruise without being challenged.

I’m not a big believer in either the Chargers or the Chiefs. Kansas City’s offense depends on one player, running back Jamaal Charles, more than any other offense in the NFL. This makes it safer to pick a more well-rounded team like the Chargers to finish ahead of them. If Charles puts together the same kind of campaign he did in 2013, it’s a definite possibility for the Chiefs to shoot above San Diego. Both teams need to improve on the defensive side of the ball, especially the Chargers, for what they accomplished last year to become a pattern.

The Raiders are arguably the biggest train wreck in the NFL. I did agree with the decision to start Derek Carr over Matt Schaub for what I discussed in terms of the Jaguars QB situation. Oakland went out and signed a bunch of middling veteran players this year in a hope to complete. Until the Raiders learn how to properly build a football team they will sit in the baseman of the AFC West.
