Phoenix Suns rumors: Suns to take a step back?
Last season, the Phoenix Suns were one of the big surprises in basketball. After a year in the lottery, they dealt one of their better players, center Marcin Gortat, to the Washington Wizards and it looked like it would be another long year in the desert. Instead, they posted a record of 48-34 and just barely missed out on the postseason.

Nate Duncan of Basketball Insiders believes the Suns are going to take a step back next season.
"Phoenix is also a good regression candidate, as I think they are really going to miss Channing Frye. And Memphis doesn’t really have anyone on their team who projects to be better than they were last year. That is always worrisome……I think Phoenix takes a bit a step back this year to around 43-45 wins. Dallas could take a big step forward, but if Tyson Chandler isn’t healthy and effective they could also miss the playoffs. He’s a huge variable for them. Dirk and Monta Ellis could both see mild regressions this year."
Frye really helped the Suns’ guard have a big season with his ability to space the floor and allow them to get to the rim. Of course, there is another argument. Provided Eric Bledsoe does come back, the Suns could potentially be better – Bledsoe missed 39 games last season. Plus, their key free agent Isaiah Thomas, is a very talented player and they could see their lottery pick from 2013, center Alex Len, develop into a contributor.
