Bobby Bowden on the NCAA: I like for them to give Joe Paterno and I our vacated wins back
By Jack Crosby
Bobby Bowden is considered the winningest coach in the history of major college football. He more or less was given this distinction by default after former Penn State Nittany Lions head coach Joe Paterno was stripped of 111 victories following the highly publicized Jerry Sandusky scandal that rocked the school a few years ago.

But, Bowden is also no stranger to having wins taken away from him. He was forced to vacate 12 wins from his record after the school was caught in an academic fraud scandal that spanned across numerous sports in the athletic department at Florida State.
In both cases, you could argue that the coaches should not have been penalized wins, considering the fact they had nothing to do, really, with the transgressions that caused the problem in the first place.
And Bowden agrees.
During an appearance on Wednesday, Bowden expressed that if it were up to him, both he and Paterno would have their wins delivered back to them from the NCAA.
Again, there have been a lot of people that have expressed this sentiment throughout the past few years, and this isn’t the first time that Bowden has spoken out about this subject. He would gladly give up the distinction as the winningest coach in the game if his friend Paterno could have his wins back.
