Boston Celtics Rumors: Free agents won’t sign unless Rajon Rondo is on team?
By Josh Hill
The Boston Celtics are in a bit of a jam now when it comes to Rajon Rondo as he may or may not have asked for a trade and may or may not be on his way out.

No matter if he asked for a trade or not, Rondo is in a contract year with the Celtics and there is absolutely no guarantee that he’s coming back in 2015-16. If he’s not traded, then Rondo could decide to simply walk and sign a big deal with the New York Knicks or someone else.
As Sean Deveney from The Sporting News points out, the Celtics could use the Rondo cap space that would be created by trading him or letting him go to sign a free agent big man, but what top free agent big man would choose a rebuilding Celtics team without rondo on it?
"What could the C’s possibly offer a free-agent big man on the market next summer, apart from money? The opportunity to play for second-year man Brad Stevens, a wildcard coach? The chance to join a team on which Jeff Green and Avery Bradley are the top scorers? Sure, the Celtics have eight first-round picks in the next four years. Try selling that as part of a pitch to a free agent, though."
There’s a chance that someone comes in if the Celtics don’t have Rondo, but the Celtics sans their star player doesn’t look like that attractive of a roster. Trading Rondo and getting quality return is the best option but Boston may wait this out to see what Rondo wants in terms of re-signing with the team.
