Experience, chemistry could hurt Cleveland Cavaliers

In just a few short months, the Cleveland Cavaliers went from a lottery team to the favorite to win the NBA title.

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

First, the Cavaliers won the draft lottery and selected former Kansas Jayhawks’ swingman Andrew Wiggins. Then, they convinced the game’s best player, LeBron James, to return. This month, they packaged Wiggins to acquire Minnesota Timberwolves’ power Kevin Love. They have a few weaknesses – they could use rim protection and perhaps more shooters, but they may be the most talented team in the NBA.

Sam Amico of Fox Sports West believes chemistry and inexperience could hurt the Cavaliers.

"Well, chemistry. It’s going to take some time with all the newness — LeBron, Love, David Blatt being an NBA coach for the first time, etc. All those things have to come together. Also, Love, Kyrie, Dion, Tristan, etc., have ZERO playoff experience. None have played on the game’s biggest stage. Can LeBron and the others help the young dudes overcome that? I think that’s the story in the NBA this year."

However, with three players as talented as James, Love and Irving, it’s hard picturing the NBA Finals without the Cavaliers next season.

Love averaged 26.1 points, 12.5 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game last season while shooting 45.7% from the field, 37.6% from three and 82.1% from the charity stripe last season. Irving put up 20.8 points, 6.1 assists, 3. rebounds and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 43.0% from the field, 35.8% from beyond the arc and 86.1% from the free throw line. James averaged 27.1 points, 6.9 rebounds, 6.4 assists and 1.6 steals per game while shooting 56.7% from the field, 37.9% from three and 75.0% from the charity stripe.
