The World Cup us underway in Spain and a lot of eyes in Chicago are going to be watching Team USA for a very personal reason this week.

More from Chicago Bulls

Derrick Rose is on the roster and he’s starting to get more and more playing time but there are still concerns about his knees after two straight years of shredding them up. According ESPN.com’s Marc Stein, the Chicago Bulls are going to be getting a good look at how healthy Derrick Rose really is as he’s preparing play in a three day stretch of games at the World Cup.

"In the latest significant step of his comeback, Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose is on course to complete a three-games-in-three-nights test by week’s end.Team USA coach Mike Krzyzewski told ESPN.com after Tuesday’s comfortable win over New Zealand that his current plan is indeed to play Rose again on Wednesday night against the Dominican Republic and Thursday night as well as against Ukraine in the teams’ Group C finale."

Rose has been showing flashes of his old self for Team USA and this three day stretch of games is going to be a test for him. But there is a lot of hope that Rose won’t break down when he plays this stretch and while it’s not going to totally calm fears, it will go a long way in convincing people that Rose is finally back.
