Everyone throughout the FBS in college football got their seasons started at some point this past weekend, beginning their journeys toward what they hope will be a spot in the inaugural College Football Playoff. Well, everyone got their seasons started except for the Florida Gators, that is, as their opener with Idaho was suspended due to inclement weather.

Since then, the Gators and Idaho have been trying to figure out how to go about this whole situation, mainly whether or not that should reschedule the game, or just cancel it altogether for the year and declare it a no contest.
Well according to ESPN’s Brett McMurphy, they have decided on the latter, as the game will not be made up, and has been ruled a no contest.
But in some good news for Idaho, they are still getting their checkbooks beefed up from Florida, despite not having to play them at all.

The problem with Florida making up this game is the fact that their bye week, the only time the game could be replayed, falls on October 25, which is a week before their annual meeting with the Georgia Bulldogs in Jacksonville. Considering how good Georgia looked in their opener against Clemson this past Saturday, you can’t blame the Gators for not wanting to lose that week off.
