They also announced the official signing of Ekpe Udoh.
Their press release reads as follows, via Slam Online:
"“Chris and Ekpe are two versatile players who bring depth and a strong presence to our team,” Clippers President of Basketball Operations and Head Coach Doc Rivers said. “We are excited to add them to the roster.”"
27 year old Douglas-Roberts appeared in 49 games with eight starts last season with the Charlotte Bobcats. The 6-foot-7 shooting guard averaged 6.9 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 20.7 minutes per game. During his five-year NBA career, the Detroit native has appeared in 210 career regular season games. This is his fifth NBA team (New Jersey, Milwaukee, Dallas and Charlotte). He career stats are as follows: 7.4 ppg, 2.2 rpg and 1.2 apt in 20.4 mpg.
This signing could well mean that the Clippers are out of the Ray Allen hunt, and signing the two veterans at the same position would be redundant. Hedu Turkoglu is also said to be returning to the league.
Colleague Josh Hill writes, “It’s not Ray Allen, which is what fans instantly wanted once they heard the news, but adding Turkoglu and Douglas-Roberts to the roster isn’t at all that bad of a haul.”
