It wasn’t Ray Allen who filled one of the open roster spots, despite how badly the Clippers and their fans are pulling for that. Instead, veteran forward Ekpe Udoh has signed a one-year contract with the Clippers at the veteran minimum.
Marc J. Spears was the first to report.
According to Shams Charania, the contract of Udoh is fully guaranteed.
What Udoh brings to the Clippers is a veteran body that Doc Rivers can throw in his frontcourt and use in rotations deep into the season. Udoh is still a very serviceable player at his age and while he may not be an elite defender or scorer, he fits the mold of a classic role player who can help a team at the right moments when they need it the most.
