While the Phoenix Suns are currently focusing on keeping on point guard, in a year, they’ll be going through the same thing as Goran Dragic enters free agency.

Unlike Eric Bledsoe, Dragic’s NBA freedom won’t be restricted, free to sign with whomever, and when he hits the market Marc Stein of ESPN says sources point to the Houston Rockets being one of the many teams to pursue the point guard.

From ESPN:

"The Lakers, for example, are just one team league sources say would likely make a hard run at both of them, based on the premise that the Suns couldn’t afford the cost of paying both at that point, theoretically making either Bledsoe or Dragic gettable. Sources say that Houston, furthermore, has Dragic on its list of potential targets next summer given how he’s blossomed since leaving the Rockets for Phoenix in the free-agent summer of 2012."

If we’ve learned anything this summer, Dary Morey, Houston Rockets general manager, is going to do all that’s within his power to get a third star to play alongside James Harden and Dwight Howard–Morey attempted to lure Carmelo Anthony, Dirk Nowitzki and Chris Bosh from their respective franchises, using a max contract and potential as championship contention. Each bait fell short, though the Bosh signing was a done deal until the Miami Heat re-entered the race with a max contract and extra year to offer.

Arguably a top-ten point guard, Dragic would be an excellent fit for the Rockets. He’s a plus-defender who can play off-ball while Harden runs the offense or do it himself, and if need be, create his own shot within the offense. Outside of finding a stretch power forward to place alongside Dwight Howard, there may not be a better available fit for this team unless they can somehow land a star point guard.

Last season, Dragic averaged a career-high 20.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 5.9 rebounds per game.
