The New Orleans Saints are known for their offense, but that doesn’t mean the team is unwilling to spend big money to solidify its defense. New Orleans did just that on Wednesday, agreeing to terms on a $41.5 million contract extension with linebacker Junior Galette.

He might not be a household name, but Galette is very valuable to New Orleans and players of his caliber aren’t easily replaceable.
Galette is coming off a fantastic season with the Saints, posting 12.0 sacks, 40 tackles and one forced fumble.
The 26-year-old is only improving too, as his season sack total has improved every year he’s been in the league. Given that, this move could certainly look even better in its second or third year than it does today.
Galette tweeted his excitement about signing the extension once the news broke.
Galette was not selected in the 2010 NFL Draft out of Stillman, but New Orleans signed him soon thereafter and haven’t let go of him since.
In 48 career games, he has 21.5 sacks, 60 tackles and two forced fumbles.
