The Jets’ offseason of turmoil is seguing neatly into a regular season of turmoil with the news that one of their rookies has been busted after allegedly getting into a fight in a hotel.

More from New York Jets

TMZ reports that sixth-round pick Quincy Enunwa, a WR out of Nebraska, was arrested Sunday evening and charged with assault after getting involved in an altercation at the Wyndham Hamilton Park Hotel in Morristown, New Jersey.

The victim reportedly received minor injuries and did not go to the hospital. Cops refused to identify the other person involved and would not give details about the altercation.

A timeline of Enunwa’s recent status with the Jets shows that he was cut from the team when they pared their roster down to 53, but then was added to the practice squad after getting arrested.

Did the Jets even know about Enunwa’s arrest when they signed him to the practice squad? Or did they decide it would be better to keep their hands on him by adding him to the PS while waiting for the full details of the arrest to come in?

It’s possible that the incident in the hotel was minor enough not to factor into the Jets’ thinking either way about Enunwa.

That being said, if you’re Enunwa and you know you’re already barely considered worthy of being on an NFL team, wouldn’t it be smart to avoid getting into the kind of situation that might give a team an excuse to cut you entirely?

Meanwhile…damn Jets. It’s gonna be a long season for you, isn’t it?
