By Mike Marteny
Last week I missed my three point game and one point game for a total of 52 points. I will take it!

At first glance, this week looks a bit more difficult. These are in order from 10(most confidence) to 1(least confidence)
Here are the picks for week 2:
10. Mississippi over Vanderbilt: Vandy got trampled at home by a Temple team that is far less talented than Ole Miss.
9. Kansas State over Iowa State: K-State plays a very similar style to the North Dakota State team that just beat the Cyclones in Ames. Except the Wildcats have a bit more talent. It may stay close, but K-State should win by double digits, which makes this one of the safer games of the week.
8. Maryland over South Florida: They don’t call them the terri-Bulls for nothing!
7. Missouri over Toledo: The Rockets are good enough to give Missouri some problems, but I think the Tigers figure out a way to win.
6. Notre Dame over Michigan: The Irish looked really good with Golson under center. That said, this is a rivalry game, and Michigan is light years ahead of Rice defensively, but that game gave Notre Dame their swagger back. Look for the Domers to take a close one!
5. Stanford over USC: USC looked great against Fresno. Stanford is much much better than Fresno. The Trojans got them last year in the Coliseum, but the Trojans having to go to the Farm swings this in favor of the Cardinal.
4. Purdue over Central Michigan: If CMU had handled Chattanooga the way that they should have, I would pick them. Purdue may have won, but they didn’t look very good doing it.
3. Virginia Tech over Ohio State: I’m going to take heat for this one, and if the Hokies get blown out, I deserve it. Honestly, the VT defense is going to make it tough on the Ohio State offense that is still a ways from reaching their potential. Luckily for VT, this is happening early enough in the season to give them a chance.
2. BYU over Texas: Initally, I thought that there was no way it would happen again. Now with Dom Espinosa likely out for the year and David Ash out for at least this game, Texas finds their offensive battery on the bench. The Longhorn D has improved enough that Taysom Hill won’t set any more records against them, but I’m not sure Texas will be able to score many points. I have to go with BYU
1. Michigan State over Oregon: This is a tough one. MSU has a physical defense in the same vein as Stanford, a team that has beaten Duck U in back-to-back seasons. Can Sparty muster enough offense to win the game? Probably, considering Oregon gave up 13 points in the first half to South Dakota. This will be a close one, but I think MSU pulls it out, as much as it looks like Oregon can handle them. I’ve picked Oregon the last two years against Stanford, and look how that turned out. So, Duck fans, you should probably consider it good luck that I’m taking Michigan State!
