The Washington Redskins kick off their 2014 regular season this weekend when they take on the talented defense of the Houston Texans. One of the major matchups to look forward to is Robert Griffin III trying to elude J.J. Watt and rookie No. 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney.

More from Houston Texans

If you have yet to hear, Watt was paid handsomely yesterday by the Texans, as they gave him a $100 million extension and made him the highest paid defensive player in NFL history.

Obviously, Watt and Clowney will look to create havoc and get multiple sacks this weekend, but Griffin is optimistic that his offensive linemen will hold up just fine.

“J.J. is a phenomenal player. He creates havoc in there, [but] we trust the guys in front, man,” Griffin told the Houston Chronicle. “We’re all professionals. We’re all here for a reason. We’re all talented players. Whenever we step out on the field, I’m going to trust the guys in front of me to handle their business.”

Both the Redskins and Texans are looking forward to kicking off the new season, as both teams has deplorable outings in 2013. The Redskins finished last season with a 3-13 record, ending up dead last in the NFC East. The Texans were actually worse than the Redskins, as they put up a 2-14 record, finishing last in the AFC South.

“There’s going to be some hot tempers in this game because everybody wants to right their ship,” Griffin said. We will see who makes the plays that count this Sunday.
