Texans’ Jadeveon Clowney practices, will start on Sunday
The Houston Texans held linebacker Jadeveon Clowney out of their final two preseason games, but they would not disclose the injury. That no longer matters. Clowney was back on the practice field and he will start for the Texans on Sunday against the Washington Redskins, according to the team’s website.

Head coach Bill O’Brien was asked about Clowney’s health and availability for Week 1 on Wednesday, and he said the rookie was “good” and would start against Washington. The first overall selection of the NFL draft may not have seen much action, but he’s making waves. Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III is taking notice.
“We’re all talented guys and we understand that you’re going to play great players,” Griffin said, via HoustonTexans.com. “It’s not about how they play but it’s about how you play and how you respond to certain things. Our guys will be ready.”
Clowney terrorized the Atlanta Falcons and Arizona Cardinals and managed three tackles for loss, a sack and a quarterback hit in limited preseason action. He will be expected to have a big role on the defense this year along with J.J. Watt, who just signed a mega extension that is worth 108.8 million over eight years.
Stopping the two players will likely be at the top of the Redskins to do list — and yet, I’m willing to bet they won’t accomplish it.
