Wednesday’s game between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field was delayed for 30 minutes because of a storm.

If it seems strange that a game played inside a dome would be delayed by weather, well, it is.

But there was apparently a power outage nearby, according to the Rays’ official Twitter account:

There was a bank of lights knocked out, but TSN reporter Scott MacArthur couldn’t resist having a little bit of fun during the delay:

The punch line came with his “after” photo:

But perhaps the best part of all was the reaction by Blue Jays hitter Melky Cabrera, who apparently forgot he had a roof over his head when the thunder began to rumble.

Perhaps the Melkman would feel better if he had his very own thunder buddy to help him through the storm.

Tropicana Field is not a popular venue for baseball. It’s under a concrete roof on plastic grass, giving it all the ambiance of an airplane hangar, but at least it’s in St. Petersburg, making it a long, aggravating trip for anyone on the west side of the Frankland Bridge that separates Tampa from St. Petersburg.

And now, you can’t even seem to avoid weather delays in the darn thing.
