When LeBron James made the blockbuster announcement back in July that he would be returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers after four years with the Miami Heat, Ohio State head football coach Urban Meyer extended an open invitation to him to attend any and all Buckeyes football events. He gave James an open door.

“He’s got an open door,” Meyer told cleveland.com back in July. “If he wants to catch a pass, we can probably figure that out, too.”
And Meyer expects that James will use that open door on Saturday night when he and his team take on the Virginia Tech Hokies inside the Horseshoe in the prime time game of the week.
“I think he’ll be in town,” Urban Meyer told reporters after practice on Wednesday. “I think he is coming.”
Of course, it’s been noted throughout the years that James is an avid Ohio State fan, even stating once that if the rule had been in place when he was coming out of high school that he had to attend one year of college before going to the NBA, he would have stayed in his home state and played for the Buckeyes.
Ohio State won their opener last weekend against Navy, despite not having starting quarterback Braxton Miller, who is done for the season with a shoulder injury.
Maybe James could take Meyer up on that pass-catching invitation also and give J.T. Barrett a really big target to throw to.
