The San Francisco 49ers are headed to north Texas to take on the Dallas Cowboys in the season opener. 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree, a Dallas area native, has been battling through a calf injury but says he will be ready to play in his homecoming game.

Crabtree missed the start of the last season with an Achilles injury, an injury he is 15 months removed from now. The 49ers passing game struggled without him last season and when he returned to the line up it was a big boost to the team’s offense.

Nevertheless, Crabtree is excited to play in front of his hometown crowd.

“I’m excited, man,” Crabtree said Thursday, via Cam Inman of the San Jose Mercury News. “I’m going back from selling popcorn and hot dogs in the stands at Cowboys games and being able to play them, that’s a big change.

“Anybody’s got to be excited for that. I can’t wait to go back home.”
