Batista reveals initial WWE gimmick was supposed to see him as a ‘rape child’

Lately, former WWE star Dave Batista has been making his media rounds following the large success of his Guardians of the Galaxy film. Well he recently took some time to talk with Chris Jericho on his Talk is Jericho podcast, where he revealed some very interesting information regarding what his original gimmick was supposed to be.

As we know, Batista originally debuted as Deacon Batista, alongside Dmonster thevon Dudley following his split from Ray. Eventually, that all morphed into one of the most successful superstars of all time.

Well Batista revealed to Jericho that his original gimmick was not to be with Devon, rather he was going to be a rape child. Basically, he would be this angry monster that went around destroying everyone because the only reason he was born was because his mother was raped.

Boy, you really have to give WWE a lot of credit for walking away from that one after they tossed it in the garbage, because that could have ended very badly. Even though Batista debuted right around the time that the Attitude Era was still somewhat relevant, that would have been pushing that envelope just a little to far, and would have most certainly drew a lot of anger from real people that were born because of a sexual assault.

For as much flack as we give management all the time, really do have to give it up to them for just saying no to this one.
