After the St. Louis Rams released Michael Sam, there was a report that said various teams were interested in signing him but feared the media circus that would come with Sam. The Dallas Cowboys were the team to sign Sam to their practice squad, and it did bring a bit of a media storm.

Add into that the news surrounding Josh Brent and his return to the NFL. Brent was suspended for the first 10 games of the season as he looks to come back from the drunk driving accident that resulted in the death of a teammate.

The players don’t seem to be bothered by though, and running back DeMarco Murray says it is all part of the experience of being a Dallas Cowboy.

“It would only be mind-boggling if you’re not strong enough to handle it,” Murray said, via Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News. “We know what’s at stake. We know that we wear the star so we’re always watched. Just got to be man enough and mature enough to handle the situation. We know what’s at stake. We know we’re focused on the 49ers. Everything else really doesn’t matter.”

And like the Cowboys other star players, Murray said he had no real reaction to the signing of Sam.

“It was just like my reaction to when they sign other practice squad guys,” Murray said. “It’s not a big deal. If he’s here to help us win then you treat him like any other guy. It doesn’t matter.”
