Jorge De La Rosa signs two-year $25 million extension with Colorado Rockies
By Hayden Kane
The Colorado Rockies have trouble attracting and retaining top pitching talent to their franchise. Very few pitchers are willing to make a choice to pitch half their games at hitter-friendly Coors Field.

Left-handed starter Jorge De La Rosa is the rare exception in a couple regards. For one thing, he is able to actually pitch well at Coors Field. For another thing, he likes being a member of the Rockies, even with the stigma attached to pitching for that franchise.
With those factors in mind, the Rockies chose not to trade De La Rosa at this summer’s deadline despite the fact that his contract was due to expire at season’s end and there were interested trade suitors. As a logical follow-up to not dealing him, the Rockies signed one of the best starters in franchise history to an extension this week.
The Denver Post reported the deal, which is worth $25 million over two years:
"According to a major-league source, the deal is for $25 million with no options. De La Rosa will be paid $12.5 million in both 2015 and 2016.De La Rosa, 33, the winningest pitcher in Coors Field history, was due to become a free agent at the end of the current season."
De La Rosa is 13-10 this season with a 4.26 ERA in 160.2 innings of work. He has won 10 or more games four times in his career with the Rockies.
