Minnesota Vikings vs. St. Louis Rams

The Minnesota Vikings are headed to the Edwards Jones Dome to take on the St. Louis Rams.  With Sam Bradford out for the season, the Rams will turn to journeyman backup Shaun Hill in 2014.  The Vikings will look for Adrian Peterson to once again carry the load as Minnesota gets their 2014 season underway.

Keys to Victory

For the Rams, the rushing attack, namely Zac Stacy, is going to be the name of the game.  With the Vikings being raw at the linebacker position, St. Louis will need to exploit the second level and push the ball down field.  Minnesota will look to Peterson for much of the offense, but Matt Cassel will need to show off Norv Turner’s playbook as well.  Checking down to Kyle Rudolph before going deep to Cordarrelle Patterson and Greg Jennings will be key.

Betting Odds

Point Spread: St. Louis Rams -3.5 -105 Minnesota Vikings +3.5 -115
Moneyline: STL -175 MIN 155
O/U: 43.5

Prediction

St. Louis heads into week one reeling after losing their star quarterback for the season for a second year in a row.  Although Robert Quinn anchors a strong Rams defense, the Vikings look to be too much for the Rams in week 1.  Look for Norv Turner to exploit St. Louis multiple ways en route to a Minnesota victory.

Final Score: Minnesota Vikings: 28 St. Louis Rams: 17
