Myrtle Beach Pelicans manager Joe Mikulik has become known for his tirades, and the fiery skipper was at it again Wednesday night.

More from MLB

Incensed at a questionable ruling on a home run down the left field line, Mikulik went off on the umpires, climaxing his meltdown by pulling out third base, walking it over and slapping it down on the grass.

Note that Mikulik did not frisbee toss the base into the stands. Good restraint on his part, I guess.

Mikulik had already been ejected at this point and figured he’d get his money’s worth. Later in the sequence, Myrtle Beach’s hitting coach also gets in on the act, and also gets ejected.

Those guys probably had a good reason to be mad, as the questionable home run call in the 10th inning ended up costing Myrtle Beach a game in their three-game playoff series against Salem.

One more loss and Myrtle Beach is out of the playoffs. So yeah, there was quite a bit riding on that call. Myrtle Beach thought the ball was foul but it was called a home run.

There could be some further discipline in the offing for Joe Mikulik, who was ejected just a couple weeks ago for a tirade in which he tore off his clothes. Dude might have some anger issues.
