The New England Patriots are a trendy pick to get back to the Super Bowl this year.

More from Miami Dolphins

The Patriots added cornerbacks Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner and wide receiver Brandon LaFell, among others, to a team that has been two the last three AFC Championship Games, which is the cause for the optimism.

However, the Patriots got a bit of a scare leading up to their season-opener in Miami against the Dolphins Sunday afternoon – quarterback Tom Brady missed Thursday’s practice with a calf injury.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com and The NFL Network, Brady’s injury isn’t serious and he will play Sunday.

Brady is clearly one of the most important players in the league and with questions surrounding tight end Rob Gronkowski’s health and the talent and skill of the receiver group as a whole, they are going nowhere without him.

Last season, Brady completed 380 of 628 passes for 4,343 yards with 25 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. In his Hall-of-Fame career, he has completed 4,178 of 6,586 passes for 49,149 yards with 359 touchdowns and 134 interceptions.
