The Seattle Seahawks put a field goal on the board in the first quarter of their opening game against the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night. In order to score the first points of the 2014 season, however, the Seahawks were the recipients of two second chances from the Packers.

The first opportunity that the Packers gave back to the Seahawks occurred on a near-turnover, as linebacker Brad Jones had a bread-basket interception…all he had to do was hold onto the football. Granted, Seahawks’ tight end Zach Miller made a nice play to disrupt the catch, but Jones will still be kicking himself for not hanging on for the pick.
On 4th down the Seahawks opted to punt, only to convert the first down because the Packers’ special teams ran into the kicker.
The Seahawks are a formidable enough opponent without extra help and second chances, especially when they play at home. The Packers still have plenty of game with which to make a move on them, but Jones and company will be kicking themselves for not taking advantage of a potential mistake from Russell Wilson and the Seahawks.
