With interested observers across the country tuned in and acutely interested in who would score the first touchdown of the 2014 season, it came from an unlikely yet always reliable source.

More from Green Bay Packers

Sorry, fantasy owners, but unless you own Green Bay Packers’ fullback John Kuhn, you did not get points for the first touchdown of the season.

The Packers were down in the red zone thanks to a muffed punt courtesy of Seattle Seahawks’ safety Earl Thomas. On the play prior, wide receiver Jordy Nelson was nearly able to reach the ball across the goal-line. He got it down close, and instead of him or Eddie Lacy or anybody else, it was Kuhn who did the dirty work and forced his way to pay dirt for Green Bay.

Not many NFL teams employ fullbacks anymore, but the Packers still have one of the best in Kuhn. Always a fan favorite when they are in Green Bay, the steady veteran came through in a tough road setting here to get his team on the scoreboard.
