Green Bay Packers running back, Eddie Lacy suffered a concussion in Thursday night’s 36-16 loss against the reigning Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks.
Coach Mike McCarthy confirmed the news in the post game press conference after Lacy was pulled out of the game in the second half. Lacy had just 34 yards on 12 carries before back-up running back James Starks replaced him.
Thursday night he wore a new Riddell helmet called the SpeedFlex according to ESPN.com. The company says helps better absorb impact force by adding flexibility to certain parts of the helmet.
James Starks replaced Lacy and finished with seven carries for 37 yards, leading the Packers in rushing.
The Packers also suffered an injury to starting right tackle Bryan Bulaga, who suffered a knee injury and was taken out of the game. McCarthy said Bulaga may not have season ending injury according to preliminary indications.
“As of right now, we do not fear a major injury,” McCarthy said. “So, that’s kind of where it stands. Until we get back and get the scans and everything, we’ll know better, but right now, the trainers’ words were they do not fear a major injury.”
Green Bay was dominated by the former world champion Seawhawks, and will look to regroup and hopefully recover from injuries before next week’s home game against the New York Jets.
