The Florida State Seminoles will not have P.J. Williams against The Citadel on Saturday evening as the starting cornerback recovers from a hamstring injury, but the Noles defense gets back starting strong-side linebacker Chris Casher who missed the opener vs. the Oklahoma State Cowboys over academic concerns.

Casher was held out in the 37-31 win over the Cowboys over academic eligibility issues but Florida State issued a release on via The Tallahassee Democrat on Friday evening saying, “Following the completion of a review of an academically-related matter, Chris Casher is immediately eligible for competition.”

Casher recorded 25 tackles, five for loss and two sacks last season and is expected to be one of the team’s leading tacklers this season.

While the news regarding Casher was positive, the same can’t be said for former five-star recruit Matthew Thomas who was suspended indefinitely for a violation of team rules.

Natalie Pierre of the Tallahassee Democrat reports Thomas may be eligible to practice with the team while suspended but will not be positive until Saturday.

Thomas is also battling an ankle injury that kept him out of the opener and it could be another week before he is healthy enough to even practice.

He took a redshirt last season after a shoulder injury early in the season after he relented on his request to be released from his letter of intent and his career with the Seminoles continues to be a disappointment with this latest development.

Thomas was a consensus top-1o recruit nationally and the No. 2 linebacker in the country in the 2013 class.
