New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady returned to practice Friday after he missed Thursday’s practice with an apparent calf injury.

According to ESPN Boston, Brady stretched and jogged in warmups during the open media portion of practice. He was wearing sweatpants as the Patriots were in shells and sweats. Brady said Thursday night he was ready for Sunday’s regular-season opener against the Miami Dolphins despite the injury.

“I sure hope so,” Brady said in an interview with Westwood One Sports radio. “Anything can happen for anybody between now and then, but I’m looking forward to playing Sunday.”

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick did not talk much of Brady’s injury, but an injury report will be made later in the day.

“We have done what we are required to do,” Belichick said Friday. “We have listed the injury. We will continue to list it. We’ll list his status based on what the requirements of the league are.”

The Patriots 53-man roster was all there at practice Friday with Brady’s return.

New England will take on the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. The Patriots finished 12-4 last season and lost in the AFC conference championship to the Denver Broncos. The Patriots have only missed the playoffs once in the last ten years, in 2008 when they went 11-5. Brady looks to improve his stats over last year where he had just 25 touchdowns.
