Changes are coming for the Philadelphia Phillies after another dreadful year, and one of the men likely to be switching addresses as part of the purge is outfielder Domonic Brown.

Matt Gelb of the Philadelphia Inquirer mentioned Brown as a player the Phillies will look to deal this offseason in exchange for “a similar change-of-scenery-type player.”

Moving the left fielder would also allow the Phillies to shift over Ben Revere, who is not exactly a defensive asset in center.

GM Ruben Amaro admitted that the Phillies right now do not have a well-constructed roster:

"“What we have on our roster right now isn’t working,” Amaro said. “How much we do depends on what makes sense for us. We’re still assessing what we have, but I think it behooves us to look to make changes because we need to be better.”"

Brown doesn’t look like much of a trade chip at first glance, with his .234/.284/.347 batting line and 58 RBI in 415 ABs. But he is still fairly young and very cheap and will not be a free agent until 2018, a fact that greatly increases his attractiveness.

Brown also is only one year removed from a season in which he hit .272 with 27 HR and 83 RBI. You figure some team will be willing to take a chance on him in hopes that he can return to that form.

If ever a man needed a change of scenery it would seem to be Brown. He seems like a miserable human being on Ryne Sandberg’s club and his production has sagged accordingly.
