According to a report, Boston Celtics’ Rajon Rondo has asked the Celtics for a trade. However, Rondo’s has denied the report and the Celtics and general manager Danny Ainge continue to say the plan is to hang on to Rondo.

However, Ric Bucher of The Bleacher Report reports Ainge has indeed made Rondo available to other teams.
"Yet practically every NBA executive outside of Boston I’ve spoken to says Ainge has made Rondo available to them. Rondo, meanwhile, has repeatedly said how much he treasures being a Celtic, but he’s never hid the fact that if the franchise doesn’t want him he’d be OK going elsewhere. Can all these things be true?Strangely enough, yes, and the reason is fairly simple: Ainge and Rondo, whose only predictable characteristics are their unpredictability. Ainge is a quirky combination of Celtic Pride traditionalist and restless spitballer. Rondo can be equally confounding, giving his all to lead his team in turbulent times and yet going AWOL, physically or emotionally, at other times."
The Celtics have been building around young talent like former Oklahoma State Cowboys’ point guard Marc Smart, who the Celtics selected in with the sixth-overall pick in the first round of the 2014 draft, so it may be in their best interest to deal Rondo.
Last season, Rondo averaged 11.7 points, 9.8 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 40.3% from the field, 28.9% from beyond the arc and 62.7% from the free throw line. Rondo was originally selected by the Celtics with the 21st-overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft. In his eight-year career, he has averaged 11.1 points, 8.4 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game while shooting 47.5% from the floor, 25.2% from three and 62.1% from the free throw line.
