In their opener at home last week, the Cougars dropped a tough one to Rutgers of the Big Ten, although there were some positive signs about this team. In particular, quarterback Connor Halliday seems to have cut down on his turnover issues, while at the same time keeping the knack for getting the ball in the end zone. Halliday, on the night, finished with 532 yards passing and five touchdowns, with just one interception.
Nevada got themselves into the win column in the opening week last weekend with a win over Southern Utah, 28-19. Quarterback Cody Fajardo finished 30-of-41 for 303 yards with a touchdown pass. He also added in 68 yards on the ground with a rushing score.
If Nevada can get the offense rolling against that shaky Cougars defense on Friday night, Mike Leach and company could be in some trouble to start the season.
