The Alabama Crimson Tide are one of the best teams in the country — Florida Atlantic is not. So what did you expect to happen when the two went at it on Saturday afternoon in Tuscaloosa?

Aside from the obvious blowout that occurred, there are things to take away and breakdown from the Tide’s utter destruction of everything that the Florida Atlantic Owls stand for.

The main thing that the Tide did right was split reps at quarterback yet again, as both Blake Sims and Jake Coker both threw for over 200 yards but were prone to their fair share of mistakes. Notably, Coker finished out the second half forgetting about the play clock at one point and then dancing around with 9 seconds left in the half before getting sacked with no time on the clock just outside of the goal line.

But it’s hard to be completely mad at a 41-0 blowout, however it despite putting up 41 points the game wasn’t the offensive explosion you’re thinking it might have been. While both quarterbacks combined for over 400 yards passing, not one Bama running back went over 50 yards on the ground. Granted, there was a barrage of backs in the game as everyone from T.J. Yeldon to wide receiver Amari Cooper registered carries on the afternoon.

Speaking of Cooper, if there was a bright and shining performance on the afternoon it belonged to him. Cooper grabbed 13 passes and went for 189 yards and a touchdown, proving that he’s going to someone we talk about all season long.

It wasn’t the nail bitter that last week’s win over West Virginia was, but the Tide failed to blow away the Owls like they should have. The game was called with over seven minutes left due to lightning though, which means Alabama probably had 14 more points in them, but the road gets a lot tougher after next week’s game against Southern Mississippi.

After that game, the Tide have consecutive games against Florida, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Texas A&M and Tennessee before taking a week off to prepare for their big game against LSU on November 8th.
