Cecil Shorts will not play in Jacksonville Jaguars opener

It is time to adjust your fantasy football lineup. The Jacksonville Jaguars have announced that starting wide receiver Cecil Shorts III will not be playing in the team’s season-opener against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon.

More from Jacksonville Jaguars

In fact, Shorts did not even make the trip to Philadelphia with the rest of his teammates, along with offensive tackle Austin Pasztor, tight end Clay Harbor and running back Storm Johnson.

The team made the announcement on Saturday afternoon.

Shorts missed the Jaguars’ practice at the end of the week because of hamstring issues.

Jacksonville is already without Justin Blackmon and Ace Sanders thanks to suspensions, so the Jaguars will be forced to rely heavily on rookie wide receivers Marqise Lee, Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns. They will have a veteran presence at quarterback, however, with Chad Henne getting the nod over top five pick Blake Bortles.
