After a run to the Sweet 16 in 2011 and an ACC Tournament Championship in 2012, Leonard Hamilton and the Florida State Seminoles have missed the NCAA Tournament in each of the last two seasons.

Although the Seminoles do have talent (junior guard Aaron Thomas really sticks out), they need an upgrade to compete in the ACC that recently added the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Louisville Cardinals, who claimed the 2013 National Championship.

On Friday night, the Seminoles did just that and may have had the best recruiting day in the history of their program.

First, 4-star guard Malik Beasley, who is currently on an official visit in Tallahassee, pledged to the Seminoles.

Landing Beasley marked a successful day but the Seminoles were not done. Later in the evening, they landed another prospect on an official visit – 5-Star swingman Dwayne Bacon.

The 6’4, 185-pound Beasley is from Alpharetta, Georgia and attends St. Francis High School. He is ranked as the country’s 10th-best shooting guard prospect, the second-best overall prospect in the state of Georgia and the 39th-best overall prospect in the class of 2015 according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings. Beasley committed to the Seminoles over the Auburn Tigers, Cincinnati Bearcats, UCLA Bruins and hometown Georgia Bulldogs.

Bacon measures 6’6 and 190 lbs. He is from Mouth of Wilson, Virginia and attends the famed Oak Hill Academy. He is ranked as the country’s fourth-best shooting guard prospect, the third-best overall prospect in the state of Virginia and the 19th-best overall prospect in the class of 2015. Bacon chose the Seminoles over the Auburn Tigers, Georgetown Hoyas, Southern California Trojans and Tennessee Volunteers, among others.

They join two other swingmen, 4-Star Terrance Mann and 3-star junior college guard Kedar Edwards in the Seminoles’ class, which now ranks third nationally.
