New York Knicks to make Greg Monroe No. 1 free agent target?

Now that Melo is back in the fold, the Knicks need Phil Jackson to start making smart signings and going after players the Knicks need rather than ones they want. What they need at the moment is big like soon-to-be free agent Greg Monroe, who can lockdown the defense and hold his own down low while Melo runs loose on the perimeter.
The question with the Knicks is will they make Monroe their top free agent target in 2015 or will they focus on someone more flashy like Rajon Rondo? Moke Hamilton from SNY.tv believes Monroe should be the guy Jackson targets.
Monroe is not going to be back in Detroit in 2015, but the Knicks aren’t the only team who will inquire about his services. Marc Gasol will almost certainly return to Memphis which means Monroe will be the premiere big on the market along with the potential likes of Roy Hibbert and others.
New York needs to make a move on Monroe, but they aren’t a lock to do so even if making a run at him makes perfect sense.
