More from Boxing

Taylor was the aggressor in the first round early on, but Broner recovered late in the round. The second round started with Taylor coming out as the aggressor again. Midway through the second round they traded body shots, before Taylor got Broner up against the ropes and began to work on him. Right before the second round ended Broner connected with a nice jab.

Week three started off with Taylor coming out aggressively the second the bell rang and getting Broner up against the ropes. Thinks cooled off, but Taylor stood in the middle of the ring as Broner worked his way around the league, Taylor keeping him along the ropes though not necessarily against it.

In the final minute of the round Broner worked his way off the ropes and backed up Taylor with some hooks to the body.

The fourth round didn’t start with Taylor charging Broner and getting him up against the ropes. Broner took control of this fight and connected with some big hits to knock Taylor out of his rhythm. Broner was teeing off on Taylor in the middle of the round, it was also the first round of the fight when Broner threw more punches than Taylor.

In round 5 Taylor came back out as the aggressor and had Broner up against the ropes though Broner did a great job of avoiding the punches. Broner fought back later in the round following the mold of the earlier rounds, a real pattern and chess match being played.

Taylor coming out to try and get the best of Broner and get him up against the ropes but didn’t really do so successfully. Broner continued to move around the ring. About 45 seconds into the fight Taylor got Broner up against the ropes briefly before he escaped. Taylor started the sixth round out punching Broner 42-2.

In the seventh round Taylor began to follow Broner around instead of cutting him off and keeping him along the ropes like he had in earlier rounds. All of the rounds were close throughout this point of the fight.

In the eighth round Taylor came out but couldn’t get Broner on the ropes right away. It took till midway through the round for Taylor to get Broner up against the ropes, though not necessarily throwing effective punches with Broner pinned.

There was an interesting moment in the round were Broner and Taylor got tangled up awkwardly. Taylor spun around and punched Broner but didn’t get any points deducted.

In the ninth round Broner seemed to be in control of the round, holding the center of the ring as Taylor walked around. Broner was starting to throw punches more frequently and showing off his fast hands.

There was a lot of dancing and chasing in the tenth round, till the final minute. Taylor turned it up and was being really aggresive and looked liked he was making a late push to steal the round, what Broner had been doing throughout the fight. Broner responded and began to throw punches quickly and effectively to turn the tables on Taylor.

In the 11th round Taylor was chasing Broner around the ring again. The round ended with Broner getting a cut over his right eye, but it looked like a result of their heads clashing together incidentally. In the corner Broner told his trainers that Taylor head butted him though.

Taylor started the 12th and final round out strong, but Broner stood and went toe-to-toe with him. Broner threw a big left hook and missed and left himself open for Taylor to start throwing some quick punches.

Broner was able to regain the momentum and started swinging hard and quickly against Taylor going into the final minute. With 20 seconds left in the fight, Broner connected with a big left upper cut and knocked Taylor to the mat. Broner then turned to the crowd and did a little harlem shake, the real harlem shake where you move your shoulders, not the new dance craze.

By the time the referee brought them back to the center of the ring to restart the action there was just three seconds left in the fight.

The fight still went to decision and Broner was declared the winner by unanimous decision. (115-112, 116-111, 116-111)

During his post-fight interview Adrien Broner made a joke referencing his controversial last post-fight interview, saying he knew Taylor would be tough because he is an African.
