In his first game back since undergoing back surgery in December, Tony Romo threw three interceptions in the Dallas Cowboys’ loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The last time Tony Romo threw three interceptions in a game was Week 8 of 2012, and he is taking the blame for the loss.
"“I think our team played well enough to win, and I just need to play at a higher level,” Romo said. “I’ll do that going forward. I just didn’t perform up to my standards tonight. That’s disappointing.”"

Coming into the season, many viewed the Cowboys defense as the issue. The defense wasn’t great by any means, but the offense didn’t help matters by giving away the ball four times. Romo was intercepted three times in the first half, and DeMarco Murray had a fumble on the first drive of the game that was returned 29 yards for a touchdown. That put Dallas down 28-3 in the first half, and they simply weren’t able to overcome it.
As Archer writes, Romo relies on practice to get in sync, but his surgery kept him from working with teammates over the offseason.
"“Romo has long felt he needed practice to be at his best, but he was limited in the spring, never practiced more than three straight days in camp and played only 50 official snaps in two preseason games. He was out of sync the entire day and took big hits as well, getting sacked three times.”"
Not having time to practice must be difficult, but things should improve for Romo and the Cowboys offense through the next 16 weeks on the NFL season.
