Coming off a very disappointing 2-14 season, it can be difficult to see the Houston Texans as a team many once viewed as a Super Bowl contender. But with Gary Kubiak out and Bill O’Brien in, a new quarterback, the addition of Jadaveon Clowney and the new extension J.J. Watt signed, there is a lot for Texans fans to feel good about.

More from Houston Texans

After dominating the Washington Redskins 17-6 in Week 1, Texans wide receiver is certainly feeling good.

Via Tania Ganguli, ESPN.com.

"Asked if the Texans could win the AFC South just one season after finishing last, receiver Andre Johnson answered in his soft-spoken manner: “Yeah, there’s no doubt in my mind about it.”"

It isn’t too farfetched. The AFC South is wide open, with the Indianapolis Colts, Tennessee Titans each figuring to be in the mix and the Jacksonville Jaguars with some promising young talent. Houston, however, has the best defense in the division.

The division will likley come down to the play of the quarterbacks. Andrew Luck will continue his improvement, but isn’t surrounded by the same talent that Houston has outside of its signal caller. If Ryan Fitzpatrick or Ryan Mallet can have a solid season, the Texans will have a chance.

Then there is Jake Locker and the Titans. Now coached by Ken Whisenhunt, Locker figures to take a step forward this season.

Of course, the Jaguars are at least a year away from making a real push for the division crown, but this season is about seeing what rookie Blake Bortles can do.

Whoever is throwing the ball for the Texans, it helps to have Johnson at the other end of the pass.
