There was some question during the week whether Vikings DE Everson Griffen, who was signed this offseason to a big new contract, would be ready to answer the bell for week 1.

More from Los Angeles Rams

Griffen missed some practice time with an illness, but late in the week he recovered and said he’d be ready to go. True to his word, Griffen is active and ready to play in the season opener vs. the Rams.

Here is the full list of Vikings and Rams inactives, including a pair of former starting QBs:

MarQueis Gray TE

Christian Ponder QB
Shaun Prater CB

Ethan Westbrooks DE

The man who beat out Michael Sam for the Rams, Ethan Westbrooks, is among the inactives. As is newly-acquired quarterback Case Keenum.

Christian Ponder, a former 12th overall pick, is inactive for the Minnesota Vikings. He might as well get used to clipboard duty because that’s what he’ll be doing the rest of the year.

Active for the Rams is DE Eugene Sims, who was listed on the injury report as questionable with a knee.

Your starting QBs are Matt Cassel and Shaun Hill. Match up for the ages right there.
