In the opening quarter of San Francisco at Dallas, Tony Romo threw an interception so bewildering, not only were those watching from home shocked he had the audacity to make the throw, but the recipient of the pass, 49ers Pro Bowl linebacker Patrick Willis, was also surprised at the throw.

For those who missed it, here is the play Patrick Willis was referring to.

In his first game back since surgery, Tony Romo had an awful outing. In the first quarter, Romo threw three interceptions, all being a worse pass than the previous. Despite Romo being known for his ill-timed interceptions, his faults today were uncharacteristic and forced–he constantly tried to throw in double- and triple-teamed coverage.

And the 49ers–Willis included–were able to benefit from those mistakes. At the end of the first quarter, San Francisco held a 21-3 lead, scoring once more to increase the lead by seven at the half thanks to two touchdowns from Colin Kaepernick to Vernon Davis and a four-yard touchdown run from Carlos Hyde.

The 49ers wouldn’t score any points following the half, but they wouldn’t need too as the Cowboys offense continued to falter.
