No number of yards in week 1 of the 2014 NFL season would be worth a Peyton Manning injury, no matter if it was minor or not.

That’s not to be paranoid, but you know it was the thought that went through the heads of Broncos’ fans and fantasy football players nationwide when Manning decided to take off and scramble during the first quarter of Sunday night’s game between the Broncos and the Indianapolis Colts.
Swift, quick, or fleet. Those are all words that a reasonable spectator would not use to describe what happens below:
Say this for Manning: he understands his limitations and chooses his spots very carefully when he runs. You can say what you will about the aesthetics of the play under consideration here, but it would have resulted in a first down if not for off-setting penalties.
Let’s just hope that it’s not something Manning does very often, or ever again, this season.
