Report: Texas Rangers discussing extension for GM Jon Daniels
By Phil Watson
In the midst of their worst season in more than 40 years, the Texas Rangers are reportedly discussing a long-term extension for general manager Jon Daniels.
The Dallas Morning News, citing a “major league source,” reported Sunday that the Rangers have begun the process of discussing a long-term extension for Daniels.

The Rangers enter play Sunday with a 53-89 record, a .373 winning percentage that has Texas on pace for its worst season since they were 57-105 in 1973, the franchise’s second season in Arlington after moving from Washington.
The Rangers have been ravaged by injuries this season, with 16 players currently on the disabled list. Texas has used 63 players and 40 pitchers this season, both MLB records.
Manager Ron Washington stepped aside Friday afternoon, resigning for “personal reasons,” according to USA Today. Bench coach Tim Bogar is serving as interim manager.
On pace to lose 102 games, the Rangers will be facing some daunting history in 2015—no team has ever lost 100 teams one season and made the playoffs the next.
Few teams have even gone from 100 losses to a winning record, though the 1974 Rangers were one of those, improving to 84-76 from that 105-loss disaster in 1973.
