It is hard to imagine a head coach would find himself on the proverbial “hot seat” with a career 48-36 record and a Super Bowl appearance in just three seasons of work. That might be just the case with 49ers’ head coach Jim Harbaugh, however.

As if that weren’t enough, Harbaugh has an absolutely stacked roster with the current version of the 49ers. Yes, injuries and suspensions have cast some doubt on the quality of the defense in the first few weeks of the 2014 season, but this still looks like a playoff team. Even with all of that being true, it sounds more and more like Harbaugh’s days in San Francisco might be numbered.
First there were the odd reports this past off-season that Harbaugh was almost traded to the Cleveland Browns. Now there are reports before the 2014 regular season has even started that Harbaugh is losing the locker room.
Per Ian Rapoport of NFL.com:

Whether on the professional level or back in big-time college football, Harbaugh would not be out of work for long if he and the 49ers did part ways.
More than wins and losses get factored into these decisions, and so it is that a coach with 13-win, 11-win, and 12-win seasons on his resume might be looking elsewhere for a job at season’s end.
