One of the best things Twitter provides is insight from former athletes. During the season, retired athletes often chime in on happenings, especially in NFL season, and Hall of Fame tight-end Shannon Sharpe laid a dinger on Dallas Cowboys corner back Brandon Carr after getting burnt on defense.

Here is the exact play in which Shannon Sharpe was referring to:

Throughout his NFL career, Anquan Boldin has never been known as a speedy wide receiver; more so a possession receiver that can be relied on in critical situations–we saw this in the playoffs last year.

This isn’t the first time Carr has been called on his ability–or inability–to keep up with wide receivers. In 2013, Carr surrendered 62 receptions to opposing receivers, the third highest in the league according to Stats LLC. In totality, the Dallas Cowboys defense isn’t good–last year, they set the record for most yards allowed by a defense in NFL history–ut cornerbacks have always been an issue for this team and Carr’s presence has yet to correct the issue.

And it looks like 2014 will be no different. The joke may be a bit harsh, but it’s comedic and better explains the truths about Carr’s ability to be a premiere corner in the NFL.
