After a surprisingly good season, the Charlotte Hornets (then-Bobcats) had big plans for the offseason. They signed Utah Jazz forward Gordon Hayward to a massive offer sheet but the Jazz matched and retained him. The Hornets then moved on, signing former Indiana Pacers’ guard Lance Stephenson to a three-year deal worth over $27 million.

More from Charlotte Hornets

Since signing Stephenson, they have been very quiet.

Chuck Myron of Hoops Rumors is surprised the Hornets have been so quiet.

"They’ve been surprisingly quiet for a team with 14 guaranteed deals and nothing more. They haven’t been linked in reports about teams working out players or eyeing veterans, so I suspect Charlotte plans on carrying 14 guys into the season instead of 15. I think we’ll hear about the Hornets signing a few camp invitees later this month, but I wouldn’t give any of them too great a chance to make the club, unless they stand out or unless it’s a surprisingly big name."

Of course, after landing a player like Stephenson, it isn’t a big surprise that they have been quiet since.

Stephenson averaged 13.8 points, 7.2 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game this season while shooting 49.1% from the field, 35.2% from beyond the arc and 71.1% from the charity stripe in the regular season. In the postseason, he put up 13.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. He shot 45.5% from the field, 35.8% from downtown and 71.4% from the free throw line. In his four-year career, he has averaged 9.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game while shooting 46.7% from the field, 32.5% from three and 71.1% from the free throw line.
