Before we proceed, we should note that the sentence above will apply to any number of Giants’ games over the course of the 2014 NFL season.
Down 27-7, the Giants drove the field hoping to make a dent in Detroit’s lead to set themselves up for a potential comeback. Once they got down on the goal line, they went to their new running back Rashad Jennings to finish the job.
Jennings was met by an initial surge from the Detroit defense, but was then able to dive with a second effort and reach the ball across for the touchdown.
This was a different sequence of play calls than the first time the Giants were down in the red zone in this game, as they opted for multiple goal line fades to score their first touchdown of the game.
