For one more week anyways, Tennessee Titans fans can breathe a sigh of relief that Jake Locker is still the team’s starter and not once more headed for the IR. As long as Locker can stay on the field, it seems, the Titans are in pretty good shape. They proved as much in the team’s dismantling of the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1.

Locker was quick to credit his teammates for the team’s stellar 2014 debut in Arrowhead Stadium. “Today it was about getting guys in position to make plays,” Locker said per The Tennessean. “Our plan called for a lot of different guys to touch the football, and we were able to do that. We weren’t greedy, and we didn’t try to take too much. Guys were open and made great catches and were able to do some things after the catch. I thought it was an efficient day for us.”
Locker went 22/33 for 266 yards 2 TDs and 0 INTs against one of the top defenses from the 2013 NFL season, which seems to be the very definition of efficient. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt fully agreed.
“That is what playing that position is all about,” Whisenhunt said. “He knew what was coming and knew what the issues were and stayed within the scheme.”
With a healthy Locker in tow, look out for the Titans to continue their offensive success.
